    Chapter 1 Questions

    1. Tao likes to draw and he hides it because it is taboo for him to draw. For a person to become a “Chosen One”, they have to be the son of the chief or leader. Tao would like to become the “Chosen One” so then he could draw whenever he wanted to and he could go into the big cave.

  2. Tao likes to draw pictures of animals very much. He has to hide it because it is taboo for him to draw. If he were caught, he would be severely punished for disobeying the secret rites of his clan. Tao loves to draw so much that he wants to be a “Chosen One,” or cave painter. Sadly, he can’t be a “Chosen One” because a “Chosen One” must be a daughter or son of a shaman, chief, or leader. Tao is none of those. Maggie M. ☺

    Queston1

Tao likes to draw animals in the dirt but he hides it because it is taboo in his clan and he is not the son of a chief nor is he the chosen one. A person becomes a chosen one by being born of a shaman, chief, or leader. Also he did not know his father, his mother had died when he was young, and there was no elder to help him. So he would never be a chosen one. I think Tao would definitely like to be a chosen one because longed to be an image maker. He was an amazing drawer.

When Tao said, “I would not eat while others are hungry,” it suggests that Tao’s tribe doesn’t have much food and will starve soon if they don’t get much more. It also means that Tao is not selfish and wouldn’t eat without the tribe. I think that he is kind and care for his tribe and would never eat without everyone else. Boy of The Painted cave

  5. Tao likes to draw animals and cave paintings and he hides it because cave painting is taboo in his tribe, unless you are a “Chosen One”. To be a “Chosen One” you have to be the son of a chief, leader, or shaman. I think Tao would love to be a “Chosen One” because he would not have to hide his talent and be able to paint in the big cave with the other chosen ones.

Question 2.Tao’s clan has limited food supplies and time to find food. Due to that Taos community has to fight for survival to stay alive every single day. Furthermore feeding a lot of people can cause lack of supplier and demand. This state meant shows Taos chanter by him saying he rather starve than others starving. Tao is showing respect, caring, and fairness in this passage.

Question 1. Tao likes to draw animal he has seen while hunting. He must hide it from his clan, because it is taboo, unless you are a "chosen one." A chosen one is the child of a shaman, chief or leader. Tao would probably love to be a chosen one so that he could go the Big Cave and do his cave art.

    Question 2

This situation says that Tao’s community is very strict about food, and it seems that there is a scarcity among meals. Due to the fact that agriculture hasn’t been invented and people are still-hunting, it’s hard to know when your next good meal will be. This also suggests that Tao’s character is law abiding. Even though he was starving, he didn’t eat the rabbit.

    Question 1.
Tao likes to draw pictures of animals he sees and hunts for. He hides his talent because only "Chosen Ones" can make cave paintings, and he, unfortunately, doesn't have a chance at being "chosen". That's because to become a "Chosen One", a clan member must be the son of a shaman, chief, or leader, which Tao is not. In addition, the leader already holds a grudge against him for being the daydreamer, so Tao is forced to keep his talent secret so as not to be banished from the clan. I think that Tao would love to be a “Chosen One” because then he could paint freely, do some good for the clan, and perhaps even improve his skills by looking at the art of the great ones before him all at once. ☺ ☻

  21. I think that BOTPC is an interesting book. In the first chapter, I like how Kala is kind and cares for the child. I like Tao because even though he has a bad foot and he could never be the “
Chosen One” he still is drawing because he likes too even though it is taboo to draw and make images.

Tao lives in a very harsh community because there is limited food and, they have to feed everyone. Tao is very caring because he would not eat while everyone was struggling to get enough food. This makes Tao very caring and kind.

  26. 1.Tao likes to draw, but hides it because only the chosen one can draw on the cave walls. He wish's he was the chosen one, but can't because he doesn't have a dad that was a warrior and he has a messed up foot.

  27. In chapter 1 Tao said "i would not eat while others are hungry" this tells that the community that tao lives in has low food supplies and is hungry. his comment shows that Tao would rather the community share the food than have it all to himself.

  29. 1. Tao likes to draw even though drawing is a taboo. Drawing is only a taboo if you are not a decent of a Chief, leader, or Shaman. I think Tao wants to be the “Chosen One” because if he was he could draw in the cave without having to do it in secret.

  30. 1. Tao wishes to become a chosen one but cannot. The reason for that is that Tao is not the son of an important personal, for example, a chief or shaman.

    2. When Tao says, “I would not eat while others are hungry” it shows that Tao is a caring, sharing, daring character.

  31. On page 22 Tao states, “I would not eat while others are hungry.” What does it suggest about the community in which Tao lives? What does this statement say about Tao’s character?
This suggests that the community that he lived in was poor, didn’t have that many resources, and was dated thousands of years ago. That also stated that Tao was caring for his elders and respected everyone by paying his dues.

  40. The slough is a damp forest that is said to be infested with demons. It is forbidden because of the “demons”. I agree with Tao’s decision because he might not have been able to survive in the bush with so little food.

  41. When Tao says, “I will not eat while others are hungry,” it means that Tao’s tribe does not have a large supply of food. It is hard to find food and his tribe might start starving soon if they don’t get enough food for everyone. Where he lives, it has been hard to hunt for food since it is not summer yet. Right now, it might not be the best time to hunt for animals if they are not thriving, and because of that, it is difficult to hunt for food. Since his tribe is so big, it would be hard to feed everyone. Therefore, Tao is a caring person because he will not feed himself while others are near starvation. He is not selfish because he cares about if others are fed too. Tao is a kind and caring person with a good personality, that not only cares about himself, but the condition of others too.

  42. When Tao says “I would not eat while others are hungry,” this says that Tao’s community needs food and it says that Tao is loyal and trustworthy.
